The Righteous Planet: Zedek

This week's planet for study is Zedek (Jupiter).  In Hebrew, Zedek means "righteousness."  This is the biggest planet in our solar system, and is visible in our night sky on a cloudless evening.  Here is a few avenues to take to learn about the planet, as I read that this planet (when moved into the constellation Ariel or Aries) was the sign of Yeshua's birth.

First, here is an awesome experiment to teach about the surface of Zedek:  Liquid Viscosity Science Experiment.  And here is a preview picture to show you the scientific homeschooling fun:

Picture
SIDENOTE: Actually, viscosity means how difficult it is for a substance to change shape.  Honey (which will be at the bottom of the glass is highly viscous and hard to stir.  But vinegar or alcohol (which will be at the top) is considered to be less viscous.  So, what did I do with this information?  A spiritual analogy!  I asked my children several questions, "Well then, as a believer, do WE want to be highly viscous and sink to the bottom or less viscous and rise to the top?  Do we want to be easy to change when being corrected by the Ruach haKodesh  (less viscous) or stuck in our ways and hard to change when the Spirit is attempting to transform us?"  I was very proud to hear their answer (less viscous) and that now they had something tangible to help them remember this planet and why it is the planet of righteousness.  A's for them all on that assignment!

Next, I wanted to include an image that I found that you can use to make coloring sheets or worksheets for this planet that you can download:

File Size: 10 kb
File Type: png

Find a paragraph of information you'd like them to do as copy work or even just the Hebrew name of this great planet with the graphic to color.  You could even do marbelized painting to have them better grasp the surface of Zedek.

And this last thing was really cool.  I downloaded it off of a website called "You Are Galileo!"  Basically, scroll down the list of worksheets until you find this planet's files.  (Personally, I downloaded the Word Document files and changed out the pagan god names on the worksheet with the original Hebraic name.)  But the worksheets are fantastic!  The point is to try to make planetary observations and see if the child (or you if you want to do one too-you forever students) can see the four moons Galileo spotted when he observed this planet years ago.  Click on the above link to view it for yourself.  And Google "viewing Zedek" (but you probably have to use its J-planet pagan name in the search instead, remember) to help you hone in on seeing it in the night sky.  Well that's it for now.  Have fun and happy homeschooling!

Dear Joy,
You are too kind. Thank you. I praise the Father for this awesome time that we have, and the outpouring in the body of Messiah. I'm just pointing my finger toward the talents and blessings the Ruach haKodesh has bestowed upon the believers of Yeshua! I will continue to post. I'm glad that we are all of like mind and enjoy the same things! Hope you have a fantastic week sowing seed for the kingdom of heaven!
Your Torah "sista",
Meredith
