When embarking on each post, I feel like I am sitting around with my Jewish grandfather hearing his own personal accounts of Jewish life. The stories are not about wars, buildings, farms, and places of worship, but of the people who brought the breath of life into them.

Oddly, most of the photographs furnished to the Library of Congress came from a Christian sect who dwelt in Jerusalem in the "American Colony," living there between 1881 and the 1940s. (From what I gathered from some of the postings on who the photographers were...)
