I personally added extra agave nectar and stevia (until I balanced the wet/dry ratio of the two and got the sweetness to my liking). So, my advice? Make this recipe your starting point.
Oh, and as for the almond flour, I bought a bag of it at the local grocery store this week for almost $12. However, you can buy a bag of blanched almonds for $5 and grind them yourself. Make sure they are dry so the nuts don't make a sticky ball when you process them in a food processor. But if you can grind them into the same consistency for that significant of a difference, do so. Use the spare change to do a local mitzvah project.
