This book is a must read for the science behind eating a raw vegan lifestyle. Recipes are a little bit harder to comply with, but a great book nonetheless. Dr. Cousens has an extensive history in this subject and I think you would gain oodles of information from him. There is also a documentary that gives you a bird's eye view at what they do at his treatment center called "Tree of Life" and it is called:
This movie is great to watch. It documents a handful of patients undergoing transitioning to the raw food lifestyle. However, the recipes are kinda tough to swallow sometimes. Especially when I tried them out on my kids and husband. But that's where Victoria Boutenko comes in and the Raw Food Family website.
Just go to www.rawfamily.com and visit a woman who makes this lifestyle a little easier to handle. You can definitely tell she's a mom! Sergei (pictured far left) was a Juvenile Diabetic who has been living insulin free for years with no adverse side effects. They all were not healthy but that really spoke to me because of my own struggle with Juvenile Diabetes.
