Hadassah (Esther's Hebrew name) had a rough life. She was an orphan. I can imagine, considering how Abba personally groomed her for her eventual position, that her circumstances were hard, even heartbreaking, to teach her how to be the "People's Princess." I thought about this on my drive home today from synagogue. Growing up in other circumstances, maybe with less adversity, may not have equipped her to become the beloved queen we honor each year. Her heroism, staring death in the face and not looking back, that pure faith...it came from deep within her and was the true beauty of the story. I picture her as a beautiful woman on the exterior, but the fullness of godly beauty in her actions. Respectable, humble, and full of compassion. Brave.
Abba has this same plan for each one of us. I am not the heroine in the form of a Persian Queen, but the one in my own story THE Author has penned. And so are you. Ladies, please listen to this song. Enjoy the Book of Esther this Purim season. Celebrate your adversity because through it, we will be the shining diamonds in His crown. To Yeshua be the glory, forever and ever. Be empowered. Be comforted. Arise, for your King has chosen you for such a time as this.
