"Oh oh oh Omer, oh oh ooo oh, oh oh oh Omer, the Omer Count."
Ridiculous, I know. Even crazier are the goofy dances we do at the same time. My kids think it's hilarious.
And for the football fans, there's the FSU version:
"Ohhhhhhohohhhmer Ohhhhhohohhhhhmer." I know. It's a little odd but so is counting forty-nine days to Shavuot. One day I *might* be led to make a YouTube video of Omer parodies. Only Abba knows for sure.
In our house we tend to enjoy making some of the commandments silly (within reverent reason of course) because we enjoy doing them so much more that way. It isn't a drudgery for us in the least. I hope you are enjoying the Counting of the Omer as we lead up to our next feast day! How does your family observe this mitzvah?
And here's a great article from Hebrew4Christians regarding the commandment and the blessing recited: Sefirat HaOmer.
Plus, I found a fellow mom's pinterest board for Counting the Omer to check out.
Finally, I came across Frontrange Messianic Community's Counting the Omer Calendar in case you need one.
The countdown continues and blessings on you and your loved ones!
