Hi everyone! Feel free to use this logo to promote this extra special mitzvah this year. There are many resources to consider to be part of this incredible time. I will try to list them in a separate post in the near future. Blessings and l'shanah tova!
I saw this video posted about 5 minutes after I posted my Yom Teruah blog. The law of two witnesses still applies, ladies!
Chag sameach! The new moon was sighted tonight from Israel by at least two witnesses: Yoel Halevi and Deborah Levine in the city of Jerusalem, as posted by Nehemiah Gordon on Facebook.
This is a feast discussed in both the Tanak (Torah/Prophets/Writings) and the Brit Chadashah (Renewed Covenant). It truly is the feast where men cannot know the day or hour (in case it is not spotted in the sky from Jerusalem). Here are the Scriptures to testify to this feast:
"Speak to the children of Yisrael, saying, 'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you have a rest, a remembrance of blowing of trumpets, a set-apart gathering. You do no servile work, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to YHVH." Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:24-25 (ISR98)
This feast is connected to Rosh Chodesh (the "head of the month"), so the moon must be starting to make its appearance and its renewal. I have heard refutation of the Torah being done away with, but knowing the Torah unlocks revelation into the Gospels of Matthew (Chapter 24) and Mark:
"But concerning that day and the hour no one knows, not even the messengers in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is-as a man going abroad, having left his house and given authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming-in the evening or at midnight, or at the crowing of the cock, or in the morning, lest, coming suddenly, he should find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!" Mark 13:32-37
Also, Yeshua talks about the parable of the ten virgins:
"And at midnight a cry was heard, 'See, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him! Then all those maidens rose up and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, indeed, there would not be enough for us and you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. And later the other maidens also came, saying, 'Master, Master open up for us!' But he answering, said, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you. Watch therefore, because you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of Adam is coming." Matthew 25: 1-13
But remember, when Yeshua DOES come (HalleluYah!), the Gospel of Matthew reveals:
"And immediately after the distress of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Adam shall appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Adam coming on the clouds of the heaven with power and much esteem. And He shall send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." Matthew 24: 29-31
Now I point out the similarities, based on these Scriptures, for the Feast and Messiah's return:
1. Both emphatically are unknown the day or hour.
2. Both give serious signs from the heavens to indicate the time is near.
3. Both connect the mitzvah of blowing a trumpet.
4. Both emphasize the need to watch and stand guard of the approaching time.
So hide these truths in your treasury because they will leave us wise to the coming of Mashiach (Messiah).
I have had people throw 1Thessalonians 5 at me to argue that every day is the same and that the Scriptures stress the idea we are to be unknowing (aka ignorant) of Mashiach's return. However, if one reads those verses in context and totality, you will glean a very different understanding:
"Now, brothers, as to the times and the seasons, you do not need to be written to. For you yourselves know very well that the day of YHVH comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, 'Peace and safety!' then suddenly destruction comes upon them, as labour pains upon a pregnant woman, and they shall not escape." 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
Now keep reading...
"But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that the Day should overtake you as a thief. For you are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. So then, we should not sleep, as others do, but we should watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But we who are of the day should be sober, putting on the breastplate of belief and love, and as a helmet the expectation of deliverance. Because Elohim did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain deliverance through our Master Yeshua Messiah, who died for us, so that we, whether awake or asleep, should live together with Him." 1 Thessalonians 5: 4-10
Sha'ul (Paul) further encourages us in ways to prepare ourselves for Yeshua Messiah's coming:
"Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, as indeed you do. But brothers, we beg you to know those who labour among you, and are over you in the Master and admonish you, and to hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we appeal to you, brothers, warn those who are disorderly, encourage the faint-hearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in all circumstances give thanks, for this is the desire of Elohim in Messiah Yeshua for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, prove them all. Hold fast what is good. Keep back from every form of wickedness. And Elohim of peace Himself set you completely apart, and your entire spirit, and being, and body-be preserved blameless at the coming of our Master Yeshua Messiah! He who calls you is trustworthy, who also shall do it. Brothers, pray for us. Greet all the brothers with a set-apart kiss. I charge you by the Master that this letter be read to all the set-apart brothers. The favour of our Master Yeshua Messiah be with you. Amen." 1 Thessalonions 5: 11-28 (ISR98)
So we need to observe this moed (appointed time/rehearsal) of YHVH as we prepare to usher in the return of Messiah!
I pray you have a blessed feast! I FINALLY made sound blowing our shofar tonight! I finally, thanks to the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) through me, am a SHOFAR HERO!!! It was not easy but with Abba and Yeshua and the Ruach HaKodesh, all things are possible! Have fun waking up your neighbors tonight with the trumpet blasts...
I love the fact that restoration from YHVH our Elohim begins with REST. HalleluYah!
Remember this as we enter this holy seventh month of Ethanim. (Hey, it's wonderful to know He made it simple for us to implement. Seven and rest. Seven and rest. In days, weeks, months, years, and feasts too!)
Ethanim (Aleph, Yod, Tav, Final Mem) in Hebrew means "permanent." Just another clarification that His calendar and His Sabbaths do not change!!!
And he answered and said to me, "This is the word of YHVH to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says YHVH of hosts." Zechariah 4:6 (ISR98)
He does the work, our job is to acknowledge that and rest in it!
"And all the men of Yisrael assembled to Sovereign Shelomoh (King Solomon) at the festival in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month." 1 Kings 8:2 (ISR98)
Chag sameach, everybody. Enjoy your month where YHVH provides for all who desire it!!!

I have to thank my friend Rachel for sending me all these links the other day, showing the correlation between the monthly lunar cycles, menstruation, and fertility! Very interesting reads, I promise.
Personally, I always wondered why women of the same house a lot of time had that "time of the month" together. (Calling out the PMS posse, right?!) I wondered why menstruation was on monthly cycles (Another part of His design that really does have a purpose!). And, as I studied the laws of niddah, I was confused as to how women were able to carry out the laws of separation in times past. Reading that we are MAJORLY off on our cycles with the integration of modern technology (also contributing to the rising epidemic in infertility) helped me make sense of all the random information and put the "whys" into logical terms that more clearly indicate the Creator's design for us.
I am going to list for you several links that discuss all of these issues. I hope you find it helpful. But I warn you, these sites are infiltrated with pagan deities and the customs of unbelieving cultures. However, as my dear friend put it, "The info is very enlightening and beautiful to me... Of course, there may be some hidden fish bones, so don't forget to use your filtering system." Great advice from a great friend. So here are the articles in all their glory:
The Moon Cycle and Menstrual Cycle
*Be warned: Many references to pagan deities.
Fertility and Artificial Light
Women Who Bleed with the Moon
The Full Moon's Pull on Fertility
I know it might be odd for me to post about this, but maybe it's time to get us back on track. I appreciated reading how Native American women who were menstruating went to a designated location and the men and grandmothers took care of the households and kids for the period of separation. That sounds just about right. Who wants to see this implemented today? Happy reading, ladies!
One congregation is really top notch in my book when they are offering to text you personally when the new moon is officially sighted! (Also, at http://www.yrm.org/newmoon.htm, you can be a witness yourself and report whether you saw the new moon or not. The more reports, the better!)
But one synagogue will text you at the sighting of the new moon to announce Yom Teruah: Kol HaMashiach Messianic Congregation. All you have to do is email your cell phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Pretty amazing, as I sit here waiting for the confirmed word from Israel!
**NEW MOON UPDATE: THE NEW MOON HAS BEEN SIGHTED IN AUSTRALIA AND THE UNITED STATES, ACCORDING TO YRM.ORG AND http://www.truthofyahweh.org/moon.htm.
Hey ya'll...I'm sooo excited for the coming new year! In case you all are not aware, the Biblical month of Aviv (depicting the barley that is in that state) Monday night at sundown. So send your e-cards for Rosh Hashana and ring in the new year with great joy because we are coming closer to Yeshua's return each year! Halleluyah!
If you want some fellowship and are kinda on your own observing this special day in Yah's times and seasons, then click on over to Michael Rood's website for a live streaming broadcast at 8pm EST on Monday, April 4th. Mason Clover is going to be the praise and worship guest of the night. Should be fun. I've tuned into a few broadcasts after Shabbat and thoroughly enjoyed them. You can tune into the broadcast via the Rood Awakening website: http://michaelrood.tv/blog/rosh-hashanah-2011

Check out this book! No matter what your life looks like, this book has lots of fun suggestions for observing Torah! It is geared toward early childhood educators, but don't feel restricted. A good idea is a good idea, and many of us are still young at heart (or could use some reverting back).
The book is called "Jewish Everyday: A Complete Handbook for Early Childhood Teachers" by Maxine Segal Handelman. I can't access it at my local library, but you can try yours and see if it's there. If not, it is readily accessible on Google or for purchase at Amazon.com. Check it out!
Here are some links for activities at the beginning of each month when we celebrate Rosh Chodesh...First, go to a planetarium! Last year we had a membership to our town's planetarium and my kids loved going to celebrate Rosh Chodesh there! My son is an aspiring astro-nut (thanks "Fly Me to the Moon" movie) so we thoroughly enjoy the new moon sightings.
One day I stumbled upon this site while on the Aviv Moon Network founded by Michael Rood. This is another ministry that is Torah observant, Mashiach believing, and a wellspring of resources for us as believers!
The ministry is Yahweh's Restoration Ministry and they can be accessed at:
Meredith Welborn is a mother of five beautiful children who has gradually integrated the Torah into her family's life as YHVH directs her. Her heart's desire is to create a forum for women to grow in the goodness of the Torah, Yah's holy instruction manual.
