I saw this video posted about 5 minutes after I posted my Yom Teruah blog. The law of two witnesses still applies, ladies!
Chag sameach! The new moon was sighted tonight from Israel by at least two witnesses: Yoel Halevi and Deborah Levine in the city of Jerusalem, as posted by Nehemiah Gordon on Facebook.
This is a feast discussed in both the Tanak (Torah/Prophets/Writings) and the Brit Chadashah (Renewed Covenant). It truly is the feast where men cannot know the day or hour (in case it is not spotted in the sky from Jerusalem). Here are the Scriptures to testify to this feast:
"Speak to the children of Yisrael, saying, 'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you have a rest, a remembrance of blowing of trumpets, a set-apart gathering. You do no servile work, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to YHVH." Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:24-25 (ISR98)
This feast is connected to Rosh Chodesh (the "head of the month"), so the moon must be starting to make its appearance and its renewal. I have heard refutation of the Torah being done away with, but knowing the Torah unlocks revelation into the Gospels of Matthew (Chapter 24) and Mark:
"But concerning that day and the hour no one knows, not even the messengers in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is-as a man going abroad, having left his house and given authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming-in the evening or at midnight, or at the crowing of the cock, or in the morning, lest, coming suddenly, he should find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!" Mark 13:32-37
Also, Yeshua talks about the parable of the ten virgins:
"And at midnight a cry was heard, 'See, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him! Then all those maidens rose up and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, indeed, there would not be enough for us and you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. And later the other maidens also came, saying, 'Master, Master open up for us!' But he answering, said, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you. Watch therefore, because you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of Adam is coming." Matthew 25: 1-13
But remember, when Yeshua DOES come (HalleluYah!), the Gospel of Matthew reveals:
"And immediately after the distress of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Adam shall appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Adam coming on the clouds of the heaven with power and much esteem. And He shall send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." Matthew 24: 29-31
Now I point out the similarities, based on these Scriptures, for the Feast and Messiah's return:
1. Both emphatically are unknown the day or hour.
2. Both give serious signs from the heavens to indicate the time is near.
3. Both connect the mitzvah of blowing a trumpet.
4. Both emphasize the need to watch and stand guard of the approaching time.
So hide these truths in your treasury because they will leave us wise to the coming of Mashiach (Messiah).
I have had people throw 1Thessalonians 5 at me to argue that every day is the same and that the Scriptures stress the idea we are to be unknowing (aka ignorant) of Mashiach's return. However, if one reads those verses in context and totality, you will glean a very different understanding:
"Now, brothers, as to the times and the seasons, you do not need to be written to. For you yourselves know very well that the day of YHVH comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, 'Peace and safety!' then suddenly destruction comes upon them, as labour pains upon a pregnant woman, and they shall not escape." 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
Now keep reading...
"But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that the Day should overtake you as a thief. For you are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. So then, we should not sleep, as others do, but we should watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But we who are of the day should be sober, putting on the breastplate of belief and love, and as a helmet the expectation of deliverance. Because Elohim did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain deliverance through our Master Yeshua Messiah, who died for us, so that we, whether awake or asleep, should live together with Him." 1 Thessalonians 5: 4-10
Sha'ul (Paul) further encourages us in ways to prepare ourselves for Yeshua Messiah's coming:
"Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, as indeed you do. But brothers, we beg you to know those who labour among you, and are over you in the Master and admonish you, and to hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we appeal to you, brothers, warn those who are disorderly, encourage the faint-hearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in all circumstances give thanks, for this is the desire of Elohim in Messiah Yeshua for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, prove them all. Hold fast what is good. Keep back from every form of wickedness. And Elohim of peace Himself set you completely apart, and your entire spirit, and being, and body-be preserved blameless at the coming of our Master Yeshua Messiah! He who calls you is trustworthy, who also shall do it. Brothers, pray for us. Greet all the brothers with a set-apart kiss. I charge you by the Master that this letter be read to all the set-apart brothers. The favour of our Master Yeshua Messiah be with you. Amen." 1 Thessalonions 5: 11-28 (ISR98)
So we need to observe this moed (appointed time/rehearsal) of YHVH as we prepare to usher in the return of Messiah!
I pray you have a blessed feast! I FINALLY made sound blowing our shofar tonight! I finally, thanks to the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) through me, am a SHOFAR HERO!!! It was not easy but with Abba and Yeshua and the Ruach HaKodesh, all things are possible! Have fun waking up your neighbors tonight with the trumpet blasts...
This week I'm going to teach the kids about the Sun, or Shemesh in Hebrew, as it is the center of our solar system and has numerous Scriptures tied to it. Firstly, here is a fabulous link for educational resources/ideas for teaching your children about Shemesh: http://www.teacherplanet.com/resource/sun.php
Lots of cool science experiments and such. And for my little ones, I found this arts and crafts sheet that I figured would help them enjoy learning about this super star. (Pictured below and can be found at this link: http://www.speakaboos.com/worksheet/arts-and-crafts/sun-plates)
You can also put the Hebraic name onto the craft as well for reinforcement. Or the smiley face. Or both. Who would dare choose?!
Also, please do not forget that signs of the end times include the fact that the "Sun/Shemesh will be darkened." So you may want to include solar eclipses into your unit study. Here is the variations of Joel 3:15 and several cross references to the darkening of Shemesh (the Sun): http://bible.cc/joel/3-15.htm
What I love doing is learning about the physical properties of an object/concept then trying to ascertain the spiritual truth to the creation. Could be a fun and enlightening creative writing project!
That's all for now. Happy learning, ladies!
I know since I became a believer back in high school, the star called Wormwood in the book of Revelation always mystified me. However, as I dug deeper into the word, I had found the references in Jeremiah and Deuteronomy relating to "wormwood." I thought that the concept of wormwood was a New Testament/Brit Chadasha concept! Boy was I blown away when I started seeing it pop in other spots in the Scriptures. "The Torah ACTUALLY talks about wormwood?" I thought to myself. "How come that is never preached in the pulpit?" I pondered. Hmm...draw your own conclusions about that one. But here is a video, full of Scripture, explaining biblically what wormwood is in context. Enjoy!

This morning I was checking out the up-and-coming Hebrew Roots Network, which will bring programming to the masses starting 1/1/2012 (pagan time) and stumbled across a new show that will be airing called "The Hebrew News Hour." I saw a familiar face (though never met him in person), Joey Dauben, who impressed me a while back when logging onto a Shabbat Night Live chatroom hosted by A Rood Awakening Ministries.
Anyway, I came to understand this man to be quite the writer, but more importantly using that gift from Yah to expose the truth, no matter what the cost. He has worked in his local community writing for the Ellis County Observer, but has launched a new site called "The Israel Observer" which piqued my interest. The site's synopsis reads:
"The goal of The Israel Observer is to be an unapologetic Messianic media outlet, while also educating readers and Believers on the politics of Israel, the decisions made about Israel and the Holy Days, for Jews and GENTILES alike. We are commanded, as believers, to keep the Holy Days (they’re Yahweh’s Holy Days, not “Jewish” Holy Days), to keep Sabbath, to keep kosher."
You can visit the site at this link, but I'd highly recommend you keep it as a reliable news source as we keep walking in Torah: http://www.theisraelo.com/
I hope you are blessed by it!
I know, strange title considering we live in the 21st century and idol worship doesn't happen anymore. WRONG! That's exactly what I used to think, but the enemy never changes, which is why the Torah is still applicable to us today. Ok, I went to Sukkot and the only class I got to sit in on at the conference was on Yahweh's diet for us. During the lecture, I got exposed to some terms I did not know existed, but all wrap up in idol worship.
If you are a meat eater, you NEED to be very clear where your food is coming from. It turns out that Muslim "halal" meat does not have to have labeling as far as the US FDA goes. What is "halal" meat? Here is the Wikipedia definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halal
It basically is lawful food under Muslim law. But please read it to gain better understanding for yourself and your family.
Then you have the word "dabihah" which is the term used for the slaughtering of "halal" food. Here is Wikipedia's write-up on "dabihah," which will give you a clearer idea of how this food is sacrificed to an idol, not Yahweh: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhabihah
Another helpful site, which I was given at the Sukkot conference is this: http://www.zabihah.com/ This is an international website that can give you local grocers that carry halal products. But do not think you are out of the woods yet!
Here is an article about how "halal" foods are going undetected in the US: http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=39442
And here is another article discussing "halal" meats being sold secretly in grocers in the UK/Britain: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1315278/Top-supermarkets-secretly-sell-halal-Sainsburys-Tesco-Waitrose-M-S-dont-tell-meat-ritually-slaughtered.html
Finally, here's a blog posting about "halal" foods: http://www.xerraireart.com/blog/2011/10/08/halal-foods/ and World Net Daily's recent expose: http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=352637
What I found most helpful to start with all this? The http://www.zabihah.com/ website, as you can find out which local grocers, caterers, and restaurants have "halal" meat. It's a start. But please please please read the World Net Daily article, as it is the most recent information I could offer. Personally, I decided to go vegan anyway, but we still should be wise like a serpent, right?
Thanks to http://profoundprophecy.com, I was able to watch this video posted tonight (entitled "Swords into plowshares...rockets into roses") about a man who sculpts roses from Kassam rockets that are fired by Arabs into Israel, and the proceeds go to help build safe shelters from the rocket fire. Watch, and if YHVH will enable you, please help support this mission.
Watch this series of videos. It will leave you captivated. Not for the baby believer however. VERY IMPORTANT.
I don't know how I wound up there, but tonight I stumbled onto the Voice of the Martyrs website, and was moved to tears reading the stories of those being persecuted all over the world for their faith in our Messiah. I know that we are all preparing ourselves for great tribulation, and I know what I would want if it were my time to stand for the faith: prayer and encouragement. This is exactly what these men and women are asking for and VOM is making it extremely simple for you to help.
Now it is our Father's heart to be our brother's keeper. Here we see Israel leading the nations in aid to Japan. If you would like to help, from what I have researched, the quickest way to get needed supplies to Japan is through monetary donation. Do not forget...Yeshua says that the least of what you do to someone else, is done to Him. Here are some avenues to extend your hand:
