A Touching Purim: Queen for a Day Outreach Event

On an earlier post dated 3/28/12 about the feast of Purim, I had briefly mentioned a vision our Heavenly Father gave me of hosting an outreach party for girls who came from similar backgrounds to Queen Esther.  The idea was to inspire at least one girl who is an orphan or currently in foster care with Esther/Hadassah's orphaned beginnings and her triumphant story that ensued.  Well, Abba had planted the seed, and this year marked the season to see this vision come to pass!

With the Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit's urging, I simply began asking several people if they would be willing to help partake in a special evening for some local girls.  Baby steps for me led by Him, Abba left me completely unaware as to how big the outpouring for this event would be!  (My mind wouldn't have been able to handle all He had been planning.)  After the first few jovial supporters accepted to help make over the girls and have a little movie night, I went to ask my local congregation, Temple Aron HaKodesh, if they would be willing to host the "get together." Small scale still in my mind, my brain again was very conservative and I was walking cautiously.

But soon the vision got out and with overwhelming support, the night became a Purim event Queen Esther would have certainly smiled on (along with Abba and Yeshua)!  We had several families and a nonprofit organization (thanks Becca's Closet!) donate gorgeous evening gowns and party dresses. We partnered with a local foster agency. We ordered beautiful tiaras and people donated gifts and favors for the girls. We handcrafted invitations for the event. Professional hair and make-up artists volunteered their services. Food was generously donated, a custom castle cake fashioned, and the members of Temple Aron HaKodesh transformed the hall with handmade tissue flowers and other exquisite decorations! And to top it all (if the blessings already hadn't boggled your mind yet), the night before the event took place, a gracious, God-fearing photographer, Johnny Pena of Pohpiheno Photography, volunteered to capture the night fit for a queen!

We opened the evening with the makeovers; there were hairdos, make-up and manicures for all the girls! We then moved on to wardrobe, where every dress was hand picked so each lady felt like a princess. Then, another local nonprofit, Harmonies of Hope, ushered in worship of the King of Kings with a special praise dance.  Next, our "queens" sat down to a delicious dinner.   Afterward, we had a little fun catwalking to Beckah Shae's "For Such a Time As This" track. The younger girls then moved into a separate room where they made their own crown craft while the older girls were blessed with the gospel message and how to be a daughter of the King by Jewish Jewels' Jamie Lash.  And the girls left with gift bags of perfumes, beauty supplies, CDs, their rhinestone tiara, YHVH's salvation (Yeshua) in their hearts, and many wonderful memories!

I don't know if I can document in words all that the Ruach did through the body of Messiah that night and all the days leading up to it, but it was truly incredible, and incredibly pure, undefiled religion in the hearts of all those involved.

I hope supplying you with the details of this event will help give you some ideas if your heart moves to do an outreach in your neck of the woods. I feel blessed to have been involved and amazed to see Abba orchestrate such a beautiful time!  Feel free to post if you have any questions.  May the blessings abound in your daily walk with YHVH.

"Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world."  Jacob/James 1:27 (Tree of Life Version)

(Note: None of the ladies pictured below are in foster care as those girls' identities are protected. We had many young girls who learned about being Yeshua's princess from all walks of life that night! HalleluYah that Abba drew all those He had chosen "for such a time as this!")
