I saw this video posted about 5 minutes after I posted my Yom Teruah blog. The law of two witnesses still applies, ladies!
Chag sameach! The new moon was sighted tonight from Israel by at least two witnesses: Yoel Halevi and Deborah Levine in the city of Jerusalem, as posted by Nehemiah Gordon on Facebook.
This is a feast discussed in both the Tanak (Torah/Prophets/Writings) and the Brit Chadashah (Renewed Covenant). It truly is the feast where men cannot know the day or hour (in case it is not spotted in the sky from Jerusalem). Here are the Scriptures to testify to this feast:
"Speak to the children of Yisrael, saying, 'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you have a rest, a remembrance of blowing of trumpets, a set-apart gathering. You do no servile work, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to YHVH." Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:24-25 (ISR98)
This feast is connected to Rosh Chodesh (the "head of the month"), so the moon must be starting to make its appearance and its renewal. I have heard refutation of the Torah being done away with, but knowing the Torah unlocks revelation into the Gospels of Matthew (Chapter 24) and Mark:
"But concerning that day and the hour no one knows, not even the messengers in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is-as a man going abroad, having left his house and given authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming-in the evening or at midnight, or at the crowing of the cock, or in the morning, lest, coming suddenly, he should find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!" Mark 13:32-37
Also, Yeshua talks about the parable of the ten virgins:
"And at midnight a cry was heard, 'See, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him! Then all those maidens rose up and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.' But the wise answered, saying, 'No, indeed, there would not be enough for us and you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. And later the other maidens also came, saying, 'Master, Master open up for us!' But he answering, said, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you. Watch therefore, because you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of Adam is coming." Matthew 25: 1-13
But remember, when Yeshua DOES come (HalleluYah!), the Gospel of Matthew reveals:
"And immediately after the distress of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Adam shall appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Adam coming on the clouds of the heaven with power and much esteem. And He shall send His messengers with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." Matthew 24: 29-31
Now I point out the similarities, based on these Scriptures, for the Feast and Messiah's return:
1. Both emphatically are unknown the day or hour.
2. Both give serious signs from the heavens to indicate the time is near.
3. Both connect the mitzvah of blowing a trumpet.
4. Both emphasize the need to watch and stand guard of the approaching time.
So hide these truths in your treasury because they will leave us wise to the coming of Mashiach (Messiah).
I have had people throw 1Thessalonians 5 at me to argue that every day is the same and that the Scriptures stress the idea we are to be unknowing (aka ignorant) of Mashiach's return. However, if one reads those verses in context and totality, you will glean a very different understanding:
"Now, brothers, as to the times and the seasons, you do not need to be written to. For you yourselves know very well that the day of YHVH comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, 'Peace and safety!' then suddenly destruction comes upon them, as labour pains upon a pregnant woman, and they shall not escape." 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
Now keep reading...
"But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that the Day should overtake you as a thief. For you are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. So then, we should not sleep, as others do, but we should watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But we who are of the day should be sober, putting on the breastplate of belief and love, and as a helmet the expectation of deliverance. Because Elohim did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain deliverance through our Master Yeshua Messiah, who died for us, so that we, whether awake or asleep, should live together with Him." 1 Thessalonians 5: 4-10
Sha'ul (Paul) further encourages us in ways to prepare ourselves for Yeshua Messiah's coming:
"Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, as indeed you do. But brothers, we beg you to know those who labour among you, and are over you in the Master and admonish you, and to hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we appeal to you, brothers, warn those who are disorderly, encourage the faint-hearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in all circumstances give thanks, for this is the desire of Elohim in Messiah Yeshua for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, prove them all. Hold fast what is good. Keep back from every form of wickedness. And Elohim of peace Himself set you completely apart, and your entire spirit, and being, and body-be preserved blameless at the coming of our Master Yeshua Messiah! He who calls you is trustworthy, who also shall do it. Brothers, pray for us. Greet all the brothers with a set-apart kiss. I charge you by the Master that this letter be read to all the set-apart brothers. The favour of our Master Yeshua Messiah be with you. Amen." 1 Thessalonions 5: 11-28 (ISR98)
So we need to observe this moed (appointed time/rehearsal) of YHVH as we prepare to usher in the return of Messiah!
I pray you have a blessed feast! I FINALLY made sound blowing our shofar tonight! I finally, thanks to the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) through me, am a SHOFAR HERO!!! It was not easy but with Abba and Yeshua and the Ruach HaKodesh, all things are possible! Have fun waking up your neighbors tonight with the trumpet blasts...

I have to thank my friend Rachel for sending me all these links the other day, showing the correlation between the monthly lunar cycles, menstruation, and fertility! Very interesting reads, I promise.
Personally, I always wondered why women of the same house a lot of time had that "time of the month" together. (Calling out the PMS posse, right?!) I wondered why menstruation was on monthly cycles (Another part of His design that really does have a purpose!). And, as I studied the laws of niddah, I was confused as to how women were able to carry out the laws of separation in times past. Reading that we are MAJORLY off on our cycles with the integration of modern technology (also contributing to the rising epidemic in infertility) helped me make sense of all the random information and put the "whys" into logical terms that more clearly indicate the Creator's design for us.
I am going to list for you several links that discuss all of these issues. I hope you find it helpful. But I warn you, these sites are infiltrated with pagan deities and the customs of unbelieving cultures. However, as my dear friend put it, "The info is very enlightening and beautiful to me... Of course, there may be some hidden fish bones, so don't forget to use your filtering system." Great advice from a great friend. So here are the articles in all their glory:
The Moon Cycle and Menstrual Cycle
*Be warned: Many references to pagan deities.
Fertility and Artificial Light
Women Who Bleed with the Moon
The Full Moon's Pull on Fertility
I know it might be odd for me to post about this, but maybe it's time to get us back on track. I appreciated reading how Native American women who were menstruating went to a designated location and the men and grandmothers took care of the households and kids for the period of separation. That sounds just about right. Who wants to see this implemented today? Happy reading, ladies!
Today in our home we started our study of the fourth planet from the Sun (or Shemesh in Hebrew) known to the ancients as "Adom." We hear it commonly referred to by the pagan deity name of Mars. "Adom" in Hebrew means "blood" which depicts the color of the planet's surface. It is the planet that you can do a lot of fun, hands-on projects about with its properties and scientific exploration! I have compiled a list for you to quickly access for a great unit study on this part of Yah's creation:
First, NASA hosts a series of resources to explore in order to get better acquainted with this amazing planet: NASA's Exploration Program. This includes up-and-coming events regarding the latest missions to our neighbor in the solar system, activities for students and kids (including packing for your own space mission), as well as resources for teachers to use with educational standards included.
Also, below you can click on the link to a complete teacher guide (which has 128 pages of cool projects and links to point you in the right direction) that NASA released to aid you in your homeschooling quest to the blood planet: NASA Adom Teaching Activities
Then, you can actually view Adom in Google Earth 5.0. This YouTube video will help you do it:
And finally, here is a .gif file to use to make your own worksheet. You could even do an art project by painting the surface of Adom.
My children really enjoyed packing for the space mission. The child really needs to contemplate what to pack when traveling to this planet. (The impact of certain items with the gravity difference as well as the practicality of other items in space made them consider the different environments of our planet and Adom.)
Enjoy this unit study. You could even watch a fun film (like Mars Needs Moms) to top off your educational experience to this red hot planet!
This week's planet for study is Zedek (Jupiter). In Hebrew, Zedek means "righteousness." This is the biggest planet in our solar system, and is visible in our night sky on a cloudless evening. Here is a few avenues to take to learn about the planet, as I read that this planet (when moved into the constellation Ariel or Aries) was the sign of Yeshua's birth.
First, here is an awesome experiment to teach about the surface of Zedek: Liquid Viscosity Science Experiment. And here is a preview picture to show you the scientific homeschooling fun:
SIDENOTE: Actually, viscosity means how difficult it is for a substance to change shape. Honey (which will be at the bottom of the glass is highly viscous and hard to stir. But vinegar or alcohol (which will be at the top) is considered to be less viscous. So, what did I do with this information? A spiritual analogy! I asked my children several questions, "Well then, as a believer, do WE want to be highly viscous and sink to the bottom or less viscous and rise to the top? Do we want to be easy to change when being corrected by the Ruach haKodesh (less viscous) or stuck in our ways and hard to change when the Spirit is attempting to transform us?" I was very proud to hear their answer (less viscous) and that now they had something tangible to help them remember this planet and why it is the planet of righteousness. A's for them all on that assignment!
Next, I wanted to include an image that I found that you can use to make coloring sheets or worksheets for this planet that you can download:
Find a paragraph of information you'd like them to do as copy work or even just the Hebrew name of this great planet with the graphic to color. You could even do marbelized painting to have them better grasp the surface of Zedek.
And this last thing was really cool. I downloaded it off of a website called "You Are Galileo!" Basically, scroll down the list of worksheets until you find this planet's files. (Personally, I downloaded the Word Document files and changed out the pagan god names on the worksheet with the original Hebraic name.) But the worksheets are fantastic! The point is to try to make planetary observations and see if the child (or you if you want to do one too-you forever students) can see the four moons Galileo spotted when he observed this planet years ago. Click on the above link to view it for yourself. And Google "viewing Zedek" (but you probably have to use its J-planet pagan name in the search instead, remember) to help you hone in on seeing it in the night sky. Well that's it for now. Have fun and happy homeschooling!
This week I'm going to teach the kids about the Sun, or Shemesh in Hebrew, as it is the center of our solar system and has numerous Scriptures tied to it. Firstly, here is a fabulous link for educational resources/ideas for teaching your children about Shemesh: http://www.teacherplanet.com/resource/sun.php
Lots of cool science experiments and such. And for my little ones, I found this arts and crafts sheet that I figured would help them enjoy learning about this super star. (Pictured below and can be found at this link: http://www.speakaboos.com/worksheet/arts-and-crafts/sun-plates)
You can also put the Hebraic name onto the craft as well for reinforcement. Or the smiley face. Or both. Who would dare choose?!
Also, please do not forget that signs of the end times include the fact that the "Sun/Shemesh will be darkened." So you may want to include solar eclipses into your unit study. Here is the variations of Joel 3:15 and several cross references to the darkening of Shemesh (the Sun): http://bible.cc/joel/3-15.htm
What I love doing is learning about the physical properties of an object/concept then trying to ascertain the spiritual truth to the creation. Could be a fun and enlightening creative writing project!
That's all for now. Happy learning, ladies!
Ok, most of you know this planet by its pagan name, but as I am beginning to bite the bullet and study biblical astronomy, I am seeing this planet in a whole new light. To the rest of the world, it's called Saturn, but I want to give it the Father's glory and have us start using its historical Hebraic name: Sabbatei. In Hebrew, as most of you already know, Sabbatei means "resting." This is the planet of rest in the night sky. I am learning this from a famous book you can read online called "Mazzaroth" by Frances Rolleston. In this book the author exposes the ancient Hebraic understandings of the constellations as well as the planets. There is a lot of information to absorb, especially with prophetic understanding into the constellations. Click on the above link to read it at your own pace. Very enlightening! I've decided to incorporate her book into our homeschool curriculum, which I am building myself since there isn't a resource of this nature already available. Here are some worksheets I developed after pulling from children's websites about the planets, but then stripping the pagan names from the information and reasserting the original names our Creator intended from them. But feel free to develop your own for personal use, as homeschooling is made to be customized! Hope you can use this resource, as we know the heavens declare the glory of YHVH!
For the second page worksheet, I went to a handwriting creator and had the word "Sabbatei" printed at the top, in case you were wondering why it is blank for half the page. (I can't get my scanner to work at the moment. Ha. Don't you just love modern technology.)
And here is a link that will help you view Sabbatei in our night sky this year: Sabbatei viewing
